Quare Tales is an evening of new short plays by Dublin’s award winning LGBTQ+ theatre group, Acting Out. Eight new short plays selected from over a hundred entries, plus the winning short play from the Scripts Festival Playwriting Festival. Comedy, drama, sci-fi, horror- there’s something for everyone!
Two women on a spaceship leaving a ravaged Earth contemplate their decision; A man resorts to animal behaviour in an attempt to win back his boyfriend; A Regency Fop and his servant may not be quite what they seem; A cocktail party goes from bad to worse; Two Vampires awaken in the basement of a gay bar; An argument about which couch to buy reveals cracks in a relationship; A ‘straight’ man tries to signal an interest in a guy using the ‘hanky code’. A man discovers his partner has been disappearing every night to a surprisng place; Plus there is the premiere Ghost Bitch, the winner of the, Scripts Festival Playwriiting Prize, in which an Elvis Drag King and their partner’s dysfunctional relationship is laid bare, with darkly comic results.
The evening is made possible with the support of the LGBTI+ Community Services Fund 2023 and will be a fundraiser for, AMACH!LGBT, Galway’s LGBTQ+ support group.
