‘One of the finest playwrights of her generation’

– THE IRISH TIMES

The Map of Argentina offers a meditation on love and what happens when it is denied and betrayed, or pursued and hunted down. There seems to be no right answer. There is always fallout. There are always consequences, and happiness ever proves a maddening and elusive quantity.

Directed by Andrew Flynn, The Map of Argentina exemplifies Marina Carr’s work to date: storytelling that tunnels deeply into the complicated contours of family dynamics, pushingthe boundaries of love, power and desire. Marina Carr is one of Ireland’s leading playwrights. Her plays include Low in the Dark, Portia Coughlan, By The Bog of Cats, Marble, Hecuba, Phaedra Backwards and most recently Audrey or Sorrow at the Abbey Theatre.

The cast includes Michael Cruz, Maeve Fitzgerald, Bríd Ní Neachtain, Fionn Ó Loingsigh, Daniel Reardon, and Ely Solan.

‘We’re all experts with hindsight, what if? What if? What if? But none of us knows a damn thing before the fact.’
