In this hands-on workshop, participants will have a chance to explore their feelings while moulding models from fimo clay. It’s important to recognise and articulate our feelings, opinions and protests through words and art. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture, small can be powerful! Particularly suitable for quiet or shy people.
Children will learn to shape and mould fimo, a baking clay, making small sculptures that can be taken home or left in the gallery in little spaces of surprise for visitors to happen upon.
About Laura Angell
Laura Angell is a British artist based in Galway. In her work she makes multidisciplinary installations using handmade objects (largely textile) to tell an intended narrative. Thematically the work focuses on failure, success, status and anxiety, exploring society’s psychological concerns, particularly focussing on the value of ‘women’s work’ both from a traditional crafts viewpoint and in a wider context. Her work employs a range of techniques including tapestry, embroidery, felting, crochet and manipulated machine knitting.
