Event, Screening,
Galway Arts Centre’s youth-led visual art collective, Red Bird, will screen their short film Glimpse of Galway in Galway Arts Centre at Nuns Island at 6pm, Saturday 9th April.
Inspired by Bord Fáilte Travelogue, Glamour of Galway, which showcases Galway City in the 1950s, Red Bird members worked with visual artist, Louise Manifold, to document Galway in 2022. With an original script and authentic footage, Glimpse of Galway looks at Galway City and Inagh Valley, Connemara, where members worked with Interface studio and residency.
The event will screen Glamour of Galway, followed by the premiere of Glimpse of Galway and a panel discussion with Red Bird members, chaired by Louise Manifold. Refreshments will be provided and admission is free.
Red Bird is for anyone aged 15-24. It is an ideal pursuit for students interested in self-led art projects, writing, music and other artforms. It is also a good foundation for those wishing to further study the arts or for those who enjoy art as a hobby.
Red Bird Youth Collective would like to acknowledge the support of the Arts Council’s Young Ensembles Scheme and Galway City Council.
The event is free to book at https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/313315935397
