Disquiet Nights Late-Night Series presents Reading with Echo with Valentina Desideri and Denise Ferreira da Silva
As part of their late night exhibition opening Reading with Echo at Galway Arts Centre, visual artists and researchers Valentina Desideri and Denise Ferreira da Silva will host a live Poethical Reading using the Echo Tarot Deck that will be of particular significance to Galway City.
Poethical Readings, the initial form of their collaboration, is oriented by the question of how to image ethics with/out the modern subject. This experimental practice encompasses symbolic tools, including astrology, philosophy, palm reading, herbal healing, fake therapy, political therapy, Reiki, and the Tarot. Each session creates a space for a collective reading of an image, which captures the inseparability of the political and ethical dimensions of a personal, a collective, or global situation or question.
Reading with Echo is a five-year collaborative experiment by Valentina Desideri and Denise Ferreira da Silva where Tarot, Reiki, and symbolic tools converge to explore the inseparability of the political, ethical, material and emotional dimensions. This event will take place from 9.30 – 11 pm during the extended opening of the Reading with Echo Exhibition at Galway Art Centre which commences at 9 pm.

Disquiet Nights is a curated series of late-night cultural events throughout 2024, hosted across Galway Arts Centre’s venues at 47 Dominick Street and Nuns Island Theatre.
Spanning performance, film, spoken word, music and sound, Disquiet Nights offers a gentle disruption into the cultural fabric and flow of Galway City. Artists include; Anna Mullarkey, Felispeaks, Stephanie Dufresne, Súil Amháin, Maria Fusco, Margaret Salmon, Ceara Conway, Denise Ferrerira da Silva, Valentina Desideri, Kate Butler, and DJ Collective Ar Ais Arís.
