In this interview conducted by Galway Arts Director Megs Morley, artist Kevin Gaynor, discusses the ideas and processes underpinning his exhibition “Currency Exchange” in Galway Arts Centre in December 2021.
Using a combination of active-sculptural installation, and social engagement, much of Kevin Gaynor’s work explores the international state, and the mechanics that support and underpin it, exploring identity through prisms of geographic class and colonial infrastructures.
